Structure of the School Day


Will students be using lockers?
  • Yes, all students in grades PK-12 will be assigned a personal locker space to house their belongings.
What will be the hours for in-person instruction
  • In-person instruction will be from 8:55-2:05 Monday-Friday. For non-bussing students in grades K-5 there will be supervised child care from 7:45-8:45. For non-bussing students in grades K-12 there will be quiet, supervised, and structured care available from 2:00-3:00. In all cases students will be required to wear facial coverings 100% of the time and adhere to social distancing (K-5 students remaining in grade level classrooms and adhering to 6’ social distancing are not required to wear a mask.)
Will there be elementary recess?
  • Yes, there will be elementary recess. Students will have daily scheduled recess with their individual grade level.
What will be the first day of school?
  • For students enrolled in 100% in-person learning the first day of school will be Tuesday, September 1.
  • For students who are enrolled in 100% remote learning there will be strongly recommended in-person Accelerate and Canvas training opportunities scheduled during the school day on Monday, August 31. ECS will be encouraging all 100% remote students to report in person with a parent for these very important training sessions. More information will be provided on exact times and schedules at a later date.
Will there be child care?
  • Yes. Even though school and bussing hours are from 9:00-2:00, ECS is committed to offering child care options for parents. For students in grades K-5 there will be child care available starting at 7:45. For all students in grades K-12 there will be quiet supervised and structured care available from 2:00-3:00 for non-bussing students. ECS will also continue to offer Club Lancer opportunities for all students 12 and under from 3:00-5:00 for a fee. In all cases (morning, afternoon, and Club Lancer) students will be required to wear facial coverings 100% of the time and adhere to social distancing
Can Middle/High School (6-12) students be on campus or in the buildings prior to 8:45?
  • No, the Middle/High school building/grounds will not open to students until 8:45 each day.
Will middle and high school students be able to use the gym after lunch to play?
  • No, students will not be allowed into the gym after lunch.
Will there be seminar for middle and high school students?
  • No, there will not be seminar for middle and high school students. Students will be enrolled in three 90 minute classes per day plus a 30-minute time for lunch. There will be quiet and supervised time for students to work on homework from 2:00-3:00 each day for non-bussing students.
Do I have to sign my student up for the quiet supervised structured care from 2-3pm?
  • No this option will be available for all non-bussing students. Unless students under 12 are signed up for paid Club Lancer after school care they will need to be picked up by 3:00 at the latest.
Will my student have to stay every day for the 2-3 quiet supervised structured care?
  • No, this is an option being provided as a courtesy to parents.
