Class of 2025 Senior Spotlights – Edward Earl Goscicki
Edward “Eddie” Earl Goscicki, son of Denise Richards and Ed Goscicki, is a steadfast member of the class of 2025. When he’s not in school, Eddie is often tearing up trails on his dirt bike, shuffling a deck for card games, or simply hanging out with friends and family.
Eddie’s favorite high‑school memory is the Washington, D.C. trip, where the history‑rich sights and time with classmates made for an unforgettable experience. Academically, he embraced hands‑on learning through the CTE Welding program at East Jordan High School, honing skills that will serve him far beyond graduation.
His favorite subject is History, a field he loves because it is always evolving and never fails to spark his curiosity. Eddie’s proudest achievement is landing a welding job at DTS Industries, proof that hard work in his CTE class paid off.
After graduation, Eddie plans to enter the workforce, begin earning, and build practical experience in his trade. College remains a future option, but for now he’s focused on strengthening his skills and financial independence.
Eddie’s favorite quote:
“Were it so easy?”
—Thel ‘Vadam (the Arbiter), Halo 3

Class of 2025 Senior Spotlights – Ruei‑Chi Lin
Ruei‑Chi Lin, international student hosted by Kate VanderWeele, is a dynamic member of the class of 2025. On any given afternoon you’ll find Ruei‑Chi on the diamond, the court, or the fairway—he loves playing baseball, basketball, and golf and embraces every chance to compete.
One of Ruei‑Chi’s favorite high‑school memories is the energetic Football Homecoming party, where school spirit, music, and new friendships made the evening unforgettable. During his year at ECS, he has proudly suited up for varsity Basketball and varsity Baseball, contributing hustle and enthusiasm to both teams.
Ruei‑Chi’s favorite subject is Precalculus, which he finds comes naturally to him—so naturally, in fact, that his proudest accomplishment is earning a perfect 100 on a precalc test. That score proved, to himself and others, how quickly he could adapt to a new curriculum.
After graduation, Ruei‑Chi will return to Taiwan to continue his education and build on the skills and memories he gained at ECS.
Ruei‑Chi’s favorite quote:
“I might swerve, bend that corner.”
—G3 (LiAngelo Ball), “Tweaker”

If you are able, please wear yellow on Monday as we fondly remember Anthonie, our student, classmate, and friend. Thank you!

ECS Baseball, Softball, and Track & Field have home events tonight! Cookout Fundraiser will take place at the BB/SB fields and the proceeds from that, as well as the proceeds from concession sales in both CL and Ellsworth, will go to the Charlevoix Golf Team.

Class of 2025 Senior Spotlights – Jakob Pähler
Jakob Pähler, son of Ellen and Axel Pähler, is a resilient member of the class of 2025. A passionate athlete and musician, Jakob devotes countless hours to the basketball court and finds creative release playing the guitar.
Jakob’s favorite high‑school memory is the thrilling homecoming football game this year, when ECS clinched victory in the final seconds—and Jakob celebrated his first touchdown. At school he has competed in Football, Basketball, and Baseball, bringing energy and teamwork to every season.
His favorite class is Advanced PE, perfectly suited to his love of all sports and constant drive to improve. Jakob is most proud of helping the basketball team reach the district final this year; despite a rough start to the season, the team rallied together and finished strong.
After graduation, Jakob will return to Switzerland to complete his schooling there. His long‑term goal is to attend university and study medicine, carrying forward his dedication and determination into a career of helping others.
Jakob’s favorite quote:
“If you never fall down, you don’t know what getting up feels like.”
—Stephen Curry

Class of 2025 Senior Spotlights – William John Sponable
William John Sponable, son of Steve and Naomi Sponable, is a thoughtful member of the class of 2025. Whether he’s golfing, gaming, watching movies, or simply hanging out with friends, Will enjoys almost any activity that brings people together.
Will’s favorite high‑school memory is the legendary “Bald Eagle” moment—a story his friends still retell with laughter whenever they get together. At ECS, he’s an enthusiastic member of the Golf team, steadily improving his game, a quick thinker in Quiz Bowl, and an engaged delegate in Model UN.
His favorite subject is History—not only because, as Will notes, “Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it,” but also because the material feels intuitive to him (with a special shoutout to Physics for keeping things interesting). Will’s proudest accomplishment is earning the CTE Graphics award with Mr. Z, a testament to his creativity and technical skill.
Post‑graduation plans are still unfinalized, but college is the likely next step as Will explores where his diverse interests can take him.
Will’s favorite quote:
“Put your phone down—it’s the drone phase, not the TikTok phase.”
—Nicholas “Jynxzi” Stewart, Rainbow Six Siege streamer

Class of 2025 Senior Spotlights – Cameron Lee-Amick Snyder
Cameron Lee-Amick Snyder, son of Josh and Brittany Snyder, is a compassionate leader in the class of 2025. A true sports enthusiast, Cameron loves reading about, watching, and playing just about any game. He’s also a dedicated music fan and a self-proclaimed film nerd who never turns down a good movie discussion.
Cameron’s favorite high-school memory is the senior class trip to Washington, D.C.—a whirlwind of historic sights, laughter, and shared experiences that forged lasting bonds. Over the years, he has immersed himself in a wide range of activities: Football, Basketball, Baseball, Quiz Bowl, Little Buddies, SAFE, Student Council (President), Class President, Model UN, SAFE in Northern Michigan, Youth Advisory Council, and National Honor Society.
Cameron’s favorite subject is English. He enjoys writing, analyzing stories, uncovering deeper meanings, and—according to friends—being a bit of a grammar nut. What makes him proudest, though, is how much he has grown as a person. Once shy and anxious, Cameron has stepped confidently into leadership roles and made it a mission to help others come out of their shells.
After graduation, Cameron will head to the University of Michigan to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Business Economics and/or Communications—ready to tackle the future with the same drive and heart he’s shown at ECS.
Cameron’s favorite quote:
“If you’re gonna work, work. If you’re gonna laugh, laugh. If you’re gonna eat… eat like it’s your last meal.” - Tony Lip (Greenbook 2018)

Class of 2025 Senior Spotlights – Samantha Sue Paalman
Samantha Sue Paalman, daughter of Katie and Ray St. Amour, is a sun-loving member of the class of 2025. She enjoys soaking up sunshine on the lake, running, eating out, spending time outdoors, and taking carefree car rides with her sister.
Sammy’s favorite high-school memory is the senior trip to Washington, D.C.—her first taste of a big city and the thrill of exploring it on foot with friends. At ECS she has been an essential teammate in Basketball, Cross Country, and Volleyball, bringing energy and camaraderie to every season.
Her favorite class is Agriscience, simply because she loves learning new things about the world around her. Sammy is especially proud of graduating high school and embracing the opportunities that lie ahead.
After graduation, Sammy will attend Ferris State University to pursue a degree in Special Education, ready to make a difference in the lives of future students.
Sammy’s favorite quote:
“Happiness depends upon ourselves.”
—Aristotle
