Cole James Abney
Cole James Abney, son of Lindsey and Nicholas Abney, is a kind-hearted leader of the Class of 2026. In his free time, Cole enjoys hunting and fishing.
During high school, Cole has participated in Track and Field and Cross Country.
Cole’s favorite subject at Ellsworth is History because he enjoys learning about the past. He is most proud of getting through school and graduating. One of his best memories from high school is going to the state meet for Cross Country.
A teacher who made a significant impact on Cole is Ms. Smith, who has always been there for him and supported him throughout his high school experience.
After graduation, Cole plans to attend Kirtland Community College on a track scholarship to earn his associate degree.

Ainsley Josephine Chellis
Ainsley Josephine Chellis, daughter of Shane and Tana Chellis, is the Salutatorian of the Class of 2026 and a dedicated member of the senior class. In her free time, Ainsley enjoys crocheting, baking, cooking, thrifting, and reading.
During high school, Ainsley has participated in Quiz Bowl, National Honor Society, and Community Theatre Club.
Ainsley’s favorite subject at Ellsworth is ASL because she enjoys learning the language. She is most proud of being named Salutatorian. One of her best memories from high school is going to Julia’s house for the after party after Junior Prom.

Gabriel Bauman Michanowicz
Gabriel Bauman Michanowicz, son of Patrick Michanowicz and Sandy Bauman, is the Valedictorian of the Class of 2026 and a driven member of the senior class. In his free time, Gabe enjoys going to the gym, flying airplanes, and spending time outdoors.
During high school, Gabe participated in FIRST Robotics and Ellsworth Varsity Baseball.
Gabe’s favorite subject at Ellsworth is Science because it allows him to make connections to his own life and better understand the world around him. He is most proud of earning his Private Pilot’s License, which he considers the first major step toward his future career. One of his best memories from high school is the conversations shared at the lunch table.
A teacher who made a significant impact on Gabe is Mr. Faivor, who has taught him valuable skills both inside and outside of the classroom. Gabe credits him with helping shape his work ethic, personal growth, and creating many memorable moments throughout high school.
After graduation, Gabe plans to attend NMC for their Aviation Science program. He hopes to pursue a career in corporate aviation as a pilot and eventually build a successful private jet charter company, with the goal of traveling and exploring the world.

The Ellsworth Model United Nations team recently traveled to Aquinas College on April 17 and 18 to participate in the AQMUN conference. Representing the delegations of the Russian Federation, Somalia, and Greece in Security Council sessions, our students demonstrated strong diplomacy, thoughtful collaboration, and professionalism throughout the event.
We are proud to share that Ella Sponable and Korbin Drenth were each recognized as Distinguished Delegate for their outstanding representation of the Russian Federation in their respective committees, an impressive achievement at a competitive conference.

Spring Break reminder! ECS will be closed March 27-April 6; school will resume on Tuesday, April 7. Have a wonderful Spring Break!

Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, March 19 from noon-3:00 and 4:00-7:00pm. As a reminder, all PreK-5th Grade conferences are scheduled in advance. 6th-12th Grade conferences are "drop in" style and take place in the MS/HS Library and Cafeteria.

March is Reading Month! ECS Elementary is excited to Glow and Grow as we focus on fun ways to read!

Come and cheer for our Middle School Lancers as they take on the Central Lake Trojans on Friday, Nov. 21 at 2pm! Boys will play in Central Lake and girls will play in Ellsworth. Students, staff, family and community members are encouraged to wear black & white to support our teams. Go Lancers!
